Hi Everyone! Welcome to the dog blog tech forum.
After a few attempts to make this work on Facebook, it appears this forum will give us lots of flexibility and won't be changing every ten minutes.
If you hit the help button at the top of the page, you can see the features demonstrated.
A few I think you'll find helpful:
*Bookmarking threads - you can choose which discussion threads you want to bookmark. Then, in your profile, you can choose to get emails whenever someone posts to your bookmarked threads.
*Searching - this forum is fully searchable. You'll be able to filter your search so you only find things that are new or very old. A great way to find that post on installing CommentLuv two weeks ago.
*New polls - you can add polls to your post to ask questions of all the other users. An easy way to get a snapshot of what other folks are doing.
*Display name - Pick a username in your profile that's very descriptive. I'd suggest something that includes the name of your blog so everyone can keep track of each other.
I'll serve as an administrator temporarily. But I'm happy to add administrators or pass on responsibilities to anyone interested.
So let's get started.
Please post a note that introduces yourself, your blog, your dog, and whatever else you'd like everyone to know. Note anything you hope to get out of this forum as well.
And thank you for joining.
Pamela

Ok, here's my introduction. My name is Pamela. I've been blogging since March 2010 and started out on a WordPress hosted site. In October 2011, I moved Something Wagging This Way Comes to a self-hosted site and lived to tell about it. I'm happy to share what I learned about this to anyone interested. I started blogging so I could have a nice record of the upbringing of my first puppy in 20 years. And I thought it would be a good way to freshen my computer skills and see what I could learn. I would like to earn my living from blogging someday but I don't expect it to be with Something Wagging. I enjoy it too much to want to think about how to change things to bring in cash. I've recently started a new blog, www.handsonhomebuyer.com which is geared to first time home buyers. That's the more likely source of future income. My personal goals for this forum? - community - I'm an extrovert doing a very introverted thing--writing a blog. I just want to get out a little.
- efficiency - I'm tired of having to reinvent the wheel every time I want to add a new feature to my blogs. I'm hoping I can learn from the experience of others here.
- time-savings - I feel mondo guilty that I spend so much time on my blog and related tasks. I want to make my time more productive so I can get more done in less time.
So I guess that's it for now. I'm sure we'll get to know each other much better over time. Pamela

Hello all, Deborah Flick here. I'm not sure If I'm doing this correctly. I'm replying to Pamela's intro to introduce myself.
First of all, thank you Pamela for starting this and for selecting the proboards platform. I've never used it before or heard of it. It's good to be learning something new so soon in the game.
For those of you who don't know, I write Boulder Dog blog and am looking forward to meeting everyone and learning from you.

My name is Michael, and my blog is positivecanineguidance.com/. I started my blog in December 2010, and like Pamela, just finished moving its host from WP to a private server. My dogs are Iggy, a 5 year-old Bullmastiff, and Frankie, a 5 year-old Rat Terrier. I know a little about computers, a little about dogs, and a little more about writing, but have never tried blogging before, and admit to being a bit overwhelmed by the possibilities. This forums seems a great way to avoid working in a vacuum. one request: if people update their profiles witht he url's, then we can check out their blogs a lot easier! Cheers! --Michael

Welcome, Michael. Glad you stopped by.
Good point about the URLS. I put mine in a signature line at the bottom. You can do the same on your profile page. That will make it easier for us to keep track of each other.

Hello! My name is Carrie and I currently share life with my husband, three Greyhounds and one German Shepherd. I recently switched over to my own domain, too, and so far it's gone pretty well. There are a few plug ins I'd like to have work better, but such is life. I'm still on the learning curve after switching over from Blogger to my own site. Sometimes I catch on quicker than others! My blog is http://talesandtailscom..

Hello, my name is Georgia Little Pea and I'm a pig dog. Pleased to meet you. I live with 2 oldish humans and 1 Very Old Dog whose name is Rufus.
My Typist really needs this forum. Especially since she started a thread yesterday to ask an important question and came back to see if there were any answers today, only to find the thread isn't even here. *sigh*

Hello! My name is Kristine and I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to anything technical. I still have a free WP site because I am terrified to switch in case my computer blows up. Okay, my computer probably won't combust. But I do worry my head will. I blog at rescuedinsanity.com and spend most of my time online babbling about my dog. Since I had to stuff her in her crate in order to write this without bloodshed, I should probably get back to her. However, I want to thank Pamela for coming up with this idea. I just wish I had more to bring to the group. You are one impressive bunch!
