Thought I'd get the ball rolling with some of my favorite WP plugins. Hopefully the Bloggers users among us will start a similar thread for Blogger plugins.
1) After the Deadline - when you hit "publish" it stops you by stating it's found errors and asking if you want to correct them first. It catches misspellings and other errors. It's very hard on passive language. I don't use it for SWTWC because I'd rather be spontaneous than grammatical. But I wouldn't be without it for Hands on Home Buyer.
2) Poll Daddy - I used this for the first time for my Too Awful or Awful Cute post on SWTWC. It was very easy to use and lots of fun. It's free for you to use up to 100 times I think.
3) Akismet - I wouldn't be without this spam catcher. I have it for both blogs. I think it makes commenting much easier for folks than having them enter captchas. And I love the way it saves the spam so I can review it. Some of them are hilarious! But you can also catch things that are mistakenly put in the spam file (which happens rarely).
4) Site Stats - This used to be built into WP but when I started Hands on Home Buyer last month, I had to load it as a plugin. Although I have Google Analytics, Site Stats is much simpler and it doesn't count my own visits into the numbers.
5) Joliprint - This plugin allows readers to publish long, wordy posts as a PDF and print it out or email it. It formats the information into an attractive format too. It can be used at the bottom of every post, but I simply used it for my K9 Nose work posts. Very cool. Very easy to set up.
